Break In Service

Since Last Post P/L: £43.89
Monthly P/L: £371.12
.
It's wet, it's dark, it's cold and it's depressing. After a fantastic Christmas, January is the last thing you need and it's no surprise to me that I've found things tough going over the last week. At this time of the year it's seems much easier to let the gremlins get into the mind and to become pessimistic. To this end, I've found myself giving reassurances that things will get better and that this was to be expected. This may be the case but it doesn't mean I like it and I really can't wait for the warm, balmy summer nights to come back.
.
I'm still aiming to make a 10% growth on my trading bank by the end of the month, but this is beginning to look like a very unlikely target. Here's a roundup of my results since my last post:
.
NFL
NY Giants @ Dallas : £137.02
NFL Season 07/08 Super Bowl Winner : £29.92
San Diego @ Indianapolis : £50.31
.
Rugby Union
Wasps v Scarlets : £13.42
Clermont v Munster : £39.86
Castres v Leeds : £24.19
Glasgow v Saracens : £27.27
Dragons v Perpignan : £51.09
Leicester v Leinster : £25.92
Munster v Wasps : £49.39
.
Quit a lot of work for no return with the NFL Playoffs really giving me a headache last Sunday. You'll also notice that my consistency with Rugby Union has been letting me down. Is it because I'm using far bigger stakes than what I was using this time last year? Have the rugby in-play markets (for domestic competitions) the liquidity I need? I'm not sure of the answers yet so I'm going to be very cautious between now and the end of the month.

Hi Mark

Funny how we all see things differently. I actually prefer trading at this time of the year! Whilst everyone else is looking out their window and seeing rain, cold dark weather, i spend my time watching the brightest of sunshine at S.Africa or Australia whilst trading a cricket match, Tennis or football etc, etc
Come the summertime i find it ever so difficult not to get sidetracked by the sunshine outside whilst i'm stuck in the office staring at a monitor.

Your results seem pretty good as well, a bad month yet still green! That cant be bad at all!

Keep up the great work!

Hi Gary,

Thanks for leaving a comment.

Yep, I guess we all have different viewpoints but the bad weather just seems to get me down. Even if I'm in doors, as long as the sun is shining outside life seems so much brighter!

All the best with your trading.

Hi Mark,

Just thought I'd drop a message to say well done on your 2007 results. Good effort! Seems like a long time since you were showing me the ropes last boxing day and were happy with 'just' £100 a month profit!
I'm sure you'll be back making plenty of profit in February with the six nations coming up after a slow January.
Good luck!
Clive

Good Luck Mark. It's a MARATHON not a SPRINT. :-).

Hi Clive,

Nice to hear from you and I'm glad you're still keeping an eye on the blog :-)

Hope you had a nice Christmas and I'm guessing it won't be long before you're back on Betfair!

All the best,

Mark

Thanks anonymous.

Unfortunately, I had another poor day yesterday so January will be all about staying in profit.

All the best,

Mark

When betting on sporting events I always think those massive outsiders are worth a cheeky punt. For example man utd sticking six past Newcastle or Andy Murray going out that early on. When im browsing through some online sports betting websites i have a look at the specials and outsiders and see if i can see them happen. If so i may have a punt
Another possibly profitable way to make money is with horse racing betting, however i would have thought this would need a degree of knowledge and experience. Personally id find a name i liked and back it.
